The repair of this SONY TC-K415 Cassette deck took ages. Cleaning and removing the remains of the perished drive belts, that gunk gets everywhere. In the process, I discovered that the drive cog on top of the FF/REW motor had split so that had to be replaced. After fitting the replacements I discovered the Pinch Roller had gone very hard and was causing a flutter in the sound, so that too needed replacement. All in all a long and mucky job, requiring the use of gloves and plenty of kitchen paper not to mention isopropyl alcohol. However, the end result from this 1980s classic cassette deck was great, not perfect as the heads were worn but certinly good enough to play those old favourite tapes from years gone by.
