A troublesome Tape Deck on this portable system was repaired because I could still get replacement parts. The deck switches needed cleaning as they were intermittent, the capstans, pinch-rollers and heads also needed a good clean but the cause of the main fault was down to a broken cog wheel which I almost gave up hope of finding a replacement part for.
Luckily, finding the original part number in the manual lead me to a supplier in Poland who had some spares and so we saved another great piece of Hi-Fi kit from ending up in landfill.
