This Pioneer SX434 Tuner Amplifier came to me after I repaired another one last year. The customer saw the repair, got in touch and aske me to look at it.

The complaint was distortion on the Right Hand Channel. Initially, it didn't show up, but after prolongued testing, it did. Using heating and cooling, I eventually traced the fault to the two output transistors. I replaced them, and gave it extensive testing, which proved the issue was resolved.

The customer has since come back to me and confirmed this.

The two output transistors originally installed were a 2SD313 and a 2SB507, I replaced them with a TIP42C and TIP41C respectively. The biggest difficulty in the repair was component identification on the PCB as the boards were hiding behind metalwork making visibility diffcult.

Thank You for watching, I hope you enjoyed it.
